Online Dating: Not Your Ticket To Adam Levine

Okay. You think you're hot. Sexy, accomplished, young. But you're single. Oops. There goes the relationship barometer - down, way down the drain, and you suddenly turn to the internet. You constantly stalk your crush to see if he has broken up with his girlfriend that, to your biased judgment, is not as hot as you.
We spend a substantial amount of time on the internet to commune with our friends, loved ones across seas or probably do business. But somewhere along that line comes that yearning to find the other half of the picture. You're on the lookout for a partner, and you want to consider online dating.
Why? It could be that perhaps you've had a friend who found her hot knight in jeans and sneakers just through chatting and eyeballing. You want that luck to happen to you. However, not everything is roses and candies when it comes to online dating. Sometimes, it could even be worse.
Vigilance - Do Not Trust Them Just Yet
So you see a photo of a prospect and his profile says, "Single." Of course, they're on online dating sites so that is very much possible. However, does it really mean that it is true?
From both the status and the photo standpoints, perhaps including the job description - do not believe and start daydreaming about your honeymoon at Maldives with this random guy who has the face of Channing Tatum as a profile picture. If this happens to be the case, there is a very great chance that this guy is fooling you.
There's no other man on earth that has the face of Channing, even if he had a twin. Had there been one, he could be out in the Amazon rainforests, bearded and all, waiting for his first chance at coming in contact with a razor.
And the status says single and you feel your heart throbbing. Here's the thing: If people want to date - married, divorced, dating or not - they will always claim to be single.
And then that other line says, "Investment banker." Wow. Quite the guy. He probably has an apartment up in Manhattan overseeing the New York skyline, driving a convertible, into stock trading. Hold your romantic horses, pretty lady! Do you think someone with such qualities will market themselves and trade their single-blessedness with women who are gaining relationships from gambling with these online sites?
These are just some of the signs, or if I may say, warnings, that should keep your watchful eyes up. Not that you shouldn't go for online dating. It's just that, you have to be smart enough to handle the circumstances that come thereafter. Emotions play a great role in this one, and the ever hopeless romantic will most probably fall for this online dating trap.
Once you are in the "zone," and you've snagged one whom you've exchanged a few details with, the regular online communication process commences. Your chats become regular and you talk about anything under the sun. This breeds comfort that actually makes the "friendship" deeper, albeit online. You may not be seeing each other physically, but the virtual connection has strengthened your bond. And suddenly, you discover that both of you share the same passions, which heightens up the spark meters.
Bear in mind one thing: FUN. You're there to date, but it doesn't mean that you're going for a serious relationship. You want company. You want somebody else on the screen to ask how you've been and laugh with him till 3 in the morning. Love is a totally different matter. In the world of online dating, it shouldn't come first. Never allow yourself to be overpowered by your emotions simply because of his profile photo that reveals washboard abs.
The internet has been a massive platform for deception. Which is why if your purpose is to find a date, you have to be very careful all the time. Don't let the excitement rule you over. Keep open minds and eyes, but don't do that for your heart - just keep it closed for the moment.
Sharing Personal or Intimate Information
You've probably heard or seen in the news how other online dating scenarios ended in tragedies. You definitely wouldn't want that. So if it comes to that point where the other party fishes out personal information from you - don't. Credit card numbers, physical and email addresses and other important details should not be disclosed at all costs. Even if he just wants to surprise you with a bunch of roses come this weekend, you'll never really know why he is asking for your address. Don't fall too much for it - most especially if he's being kind of pushy.
Online dating is not bad in and of itself. But we always have to take into consideration that our computer screens have the magical ability to make your prospective guy look like Adam Levine. He might even be gay. Or a serial killer. Nobody knows.
These are the stories that most of us are actually aware of. However, we fail to acknowledge it and deny it for as much as we can in hopes of snagging a date. It's not your ticket to a hot rock star. After all, you might be missing out on something else. Try going out. You might not even be aware that your next-door neighbor who moved in a week ago is one hot commodity as well.
