FAQ #30: How to Track Published Articles

Question: How will I know where the article has been reproduced?

Answer: We request people to send you a notice telling you of publication. Sometimes they do. Sometimes they tell me, and I forward it to you. Sometimes, they never tell us at all.

When they fail to tell us, we have to use a bit of creativity to figure it all out. ;-)

At the bottom of your article page, I have included six links to six search engine result pages, for a search of your name in quotes and your article title in quotes. This way, it is easy for us to check the search engines for our articles.

This is one of the two ways to discern when someone has published our article and did not tell us about it.

The other way is to keep an eye open to your referal logs in your site statistics software. After a time, you will get a solid feel of which pages in your referal logs contain your articles.

If there is anything else I can answer, please let me know.
