FAQ #21: Setting Keywords in HyperlinksQuestion: Could you put the links in 'About the Author' credit to look like the sample below. This makes the links much more powerful for my sites. This is important because the reason I distribute these articles is to get the quality (keyword-rich) links back to my site.Sample: Keyword Rich Copy pointing to Writer's URL Answer: A few writer's have asked me to construct their article and resource box with hyperlinked URL's and preferred keywords inside the hyperlink. While this does provide real value to the writer once a page is dropped into a webpage and the webpage is spidered by the search engines, it also creates other problems. Through my service, I only distribute articles as plain text. This guarantee's that more people will open and read your article and consider it for publication. Remember that we should always Strive to Meet the Lowest Common Denominator for Maximum Performance. The Lowest Common Denominator for email software is Plain Text. If the article is delivered in HTML, most publishers and webmasters will not take the time to apply the hyperlinks to the article when they publish it. Again, it is in our best interest to send an article in plain text with visible URL's. Most ezines will not be spidered, so the forced hyperlinks will not serve their intended purpose when the article is published in most ezines. (A large percentage of publisher's still publish only in text format. Remember the Lowest Common Denominator Rule?) A simple URL in a Plain Text email will have the URL appear as a hyperlink like this: http://thePhantomWriters.com . These simple hyperlinked URL's and hyperlinked mailto: tags will appear as links, even in a plain text email. The only thing they will not do is appear with keywords imbedded in the links. Due to popular demand, I have adjusted my software to be able to send keywords imbedded within hyperlinks. Simply send the article to me in text format so that I can see the href tag, and I will deliver your article with your imbedded links. If you intend to target both the publishers and the webmasters, and you want to use imbedded keywords, then may I suggest to use a combination of imbedded keywords and hyperlinked URL's. See the box for an example of what I mean:
Did you notice that one of the hyperlinks I used in the copy did in fact contain within it the actual URL I want people to visit? This is how you can ensure that your URL does not get lost if a publisher simply copies the article text minus the hyperlinks. Keep this in mind. I do require with your article submission that all URL's and Mailto: tags are hyperlinked, and I do require that all links are carried forward. But, there is occasionally the unscrupulous who do not follow our rules of reprint. When this happens, we must locate the person who violates our Terms of Reprint, and then I or you, or both of us must contact the person and enforce our the Terms of Reprint attached to the Copyright you own on your printed works. Like I said, for distribution to ezine publishers, I don't recommend imbedded keywords; but yes, I can distribute all of your articles for you with keywords imbedded in the hyperlinks.
