Are There Any Alternatives to E-mail? Written by: Rosalyn Bronstein | Distributed: 2004-12-14 | When e-mail first became popular in the 1990s, it was viewed as nothing short of wonderful. There was no need to go to the post office, no need to purchase paper or stamps, and no waiting days for a reply. People could easily and quickly send written messages to anyone else with an e-mail address. Life was good. |

Family Matters Written by: Rosalyn Bronstein | Distributed: 2004-10-22 | Since the escalation of international terrorist activity a few years ago, many of us have had an opportunity to re-evaluate relationships and reflect upon our lives. This can be a very difficult, and sometimes wrenching thing to do, but a necessary activity. Making this sort of emotional assessment takes us back to our core values. It helps us to appreciate the people who have touched our lives in positive ways. |

Making the Connection Written by: Rosalyn Bronstein | Distributed: 2004-09-24 | Have you ever had the experience of meeting someone, and after a few minutes of conversation, settled into the feeling of having known that person all you life? This sort of incident – an immediately strong emotional connection – is quite rare. It’s happened to me on two occasions, and in both cases, resulted in long-term friendships. |

Communication – Then and Now Written by: Rosalyn Bronstein | Distributed: 2004-09-14 | If you think about what life must have been like 150 years ago, when long distance communication meant putting pen to paper, it’s astonishing to think about how far we’ve come. |

There Ought to be a Law Written by: Rosalyn Bronstein | Distributed: 2004-09-07 | I hadn’t fully realized the extent of the computer hacking problem until I began receiving feedback from the article I recently wrote. Apparently, lots of others have had similar – and some much more upsetting experiences. Web sites that legitimate individuals worked hard to create and optimize have been “visited and changed”, and e-mails have gone out, supposedly from their address, but in actuality from some computer spewing fraudulent messages – and very likely to millions of recipients they don’t even know about. |

Responding to Internet Hackers Written by: Rosalyn Bronstein | Distributed: 2004-08-31 | Internet hackers strike inadequately protected computers. Even having a firewall may not be enough. These unwelcome trespassers break into computers with the intent to disrupt, steal information, cause damage, and profit from these activities. Data mining should be illegal everywhere. Those who leave unwanted advertising in the form of pop-ups and pop-unders aren’t much better. |

What it Takes To Become a Published Writer Written by: Rosalyn Bronstein | Distributed: 2004-08-05 | Despite what some writers may say, sitting down to write an article isn’t always easy. There’s the topic to consider, of course, and finding a unique way to make it interesting. Turning out many articles each week is in some ways not as difficult, as the exercise of composing becomes somewhat routine with practice. It’s like anything one does – the more it is done, the better it gets. |

Getting the Message Written by: Rosalyn Bronstein | Distributed: 2004-07-19 | It’s becoming more and more difficult to send and receive information without running into obstacles. I experienced this first hand a few weeks ago, when I inadvertently learned that my e-mail addressed had been “hijacked” by a spammer. It was only when a message I hadn’t sent bounced back to my account that I was even aware this had happened. So there is the obvious question – how many more people is this happening to? The answer is – plenty. |

Finding an Acceptable Solution to Conquer Spam Email Written by: Rosalyn Bronstein | Distributed: 2004-07-14 | When e-mailing first became popular during the early 1990s, it was seen by many as a quick, convenient and easy way to send a message or image to friends and acquaintances. After all, this is what it was intended to do. On the up side, it eliminated trips to the post office and stationery store. Unfortunately, there was also a down side –it was easily exploited by some as a cheap, simple way to send unsolicited advertisements to lots and lots of people. |

Do You Really Want to Contact Me? Written by: Rosalyn Bronstein | Distributed: 2004-07-08 | If you think about how far communication has evolved in the past century, when long distance communication meant putting pen to paper, it really gives one pause. |
