"Take, eat: this is my body which is broken for you: do this ..."

The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female? And the Pharisees said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

If thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

But from the beginning it was not so. God created man in his own image; male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry. But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. For two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit; that in all things he might have the preeminence. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

The husband is the head of the wife, but Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. That he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby.

As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling. Which he wrought in Christ ... and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body.

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. For God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel. For the body is not one member, but many.

If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. Continue ye in my love. John 15:7-9

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8

In previous eras, the nature of sacred marriage was connected with duty, or related to practical necessities. Nowadays, as human relationships transform and become more conscious, the nature of sacred marriage enters a whole new domain of possibility, that is related to two souls who become One in God, without releasing their individuality or unique identities.

God's love as a healing presence in the world is growing stronger daily. When we begin to awaken spiritually, we ask 'why am I here?', and 'for what purpose did God create me?' For some, an inner understanding of divine soul purpose emerges relatively early in the spiritual journey. For others, knowledge of soul purpose eludes our human embodied self for quite a long time, necessitating a period of 'walking in the desert' with little apparent support. God created you so carefully, and uniquely for the sacred purpose you embody.

In this day and time, it almost seems as if kindness, politeness, consideration, and most of the lessons we were taught as children were tossed out of the window one day and replaced with a new set of rules. Could it simply be that children these days are born with a defect, lacking self-control? Or are they just not being taught the way they should be taught; parents blaming modern day hardships and circumstances? It is true that the children being raised today will determine the shape of our future, but in the meantime, whose example are they following?
