Jessica Simpson's Home State Is Home Of Poinsettia Celebration
Copyright (c) 2006-2023 Wesley Berry, AAF
Next November singer and actress Jessica Simpson (born July 10, 1980 in Dallas, Texas) may want to make a visit to her home state so she can attend the annual Poinsettia Celebration put on by Ellison's Greenhouses in Brenham, Texas. The celebration has gotten so big and beautiful that it was even featured on The Today Show in 2006.
The Poinsettia Celebration has been held at Ellison's every year since 1990. The event takes place the weekend before Thanksgiving and features colorful oversized displays of poinsettias in a wide variety of colors-so many, in fact, that the 2006 celebration included a giant "Rainbow Tree" with a pot of gold at the bottom. The Rainbow Tree displayed poinsettias in all colors of the rainbow-red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
Each year the festival draws in the neighborhood of 3,000 and 5,000 people depending on the weather. Many people who are unable to attend during the actual event visit Ellison's in the week before and the week after the celebration, which adds another 2,000 to 3,000 visitors who are there to see the beautiful poinsettias.
It's not surprising that so many people would turn out to see poinsettias; their beauty is as charming as the legend behind them. The legend has it that a young girl was saddened by the fact that she didn't have a gift to present for the baby Jesus. Her cousin encouraged her to bring a humble gift to show her good intentions, so along the way the girl picked a bouquet of weeds from the side of the road. As she approached the altar to present her gift, they bloomed with stunning poinsettia flowers.
Poinsettias have long been a symbol of the Christmas season and are a traditional gift for the holidays. Though red is the most popular color, poinsettias are also available in white, peach, speckled, and dozens of other colors. If cared for properly, they'll bloom for a long period of time and can even be kept over the year to flower again the following Christmas season.
With the lasting beauty and tradition of the poinsettia, Jessica Simpson may just want to make a point of adding the Poinsettia Celebration to her calendar for next November. She's sure to find stunning displays and could walk away with gorgeous poinsettias for everyone on her shopping list.

Easter, the Christian festival commemorating the resurrection of
Christ, was the earliest feast day decided upon by the ancient
Christian Church. Like its Jewish predecessor Passover, it is a
movable feast, based on the lunar calendar rather than falling on
the same Sunday every year. It is a joyous festival and a time of
redemption.

It's a sad fact that the American culture lacks in romance-a
recent survey conducted by Brusking/Goldring Research for the
Society of American Florists (SAF) revealed just how bad the
situation is. According to the survey, only 19 percent of men
rate themselves as at least a seven on a scale of one to 10. Even
worse, women agree! Only 19 percent of them rank their husbands
or significant others as at least a seven.

certainly big, but it's Christmas that draws more customers

because flowers bring a festive feel to any room they adorn
