Graduation Flowers Are At The Head Of The Class

The coming of spring signals new beginnings, and each year many young adults take the first steps toward that new beginning when they walk across the stage to accept a diploma at their graduation ceremony. Of course, with graduation comes excitement, smiles, tears, a big celebration, and lots of wonderful memories. One way to help make the day even more beautiful and memorable is with flowers.

Whether your loved one is graduating from college, high school, kindergarten, or even preschool, flowers can help make the day an especially memorable one. Here are some tips for using flowers to earn an A+ on graduation day no matter what age your graduate is:

Kindergarten and Preschool

You might not think about flowers when you consider how to make your little one's day a big success. But, everyone loves flowers-even very small children. Receiving a bouquet of flowers or a corsage or boutonniere to wear for the day makes young children feel like grown-ups.

High School

High school graduation is the culmination of thirteen years of education, and it's a day that should be celebrated in a big way. Most people purchase flowers to match the school colors. That's a great idea and most florists will have plenty of school themed flowers on hand when graduation is pending. However, if your graduate isn't particularly fond of the school colors or if he or she has a specific favorite, it's perfectly okay to veer from the school theme.

Again, you will want to think about getting your graduate a bouquet or flower arrangement as well as a corsage or boutonniere. Be aware, however, that some schools have rules against wearing anything on the graduation gowns, so your graduate may have to wait until after the ceremony to don their flowers.

At the graduation party flowers can be used as table centerpieces or to highlight a display of pictures and the diploma. If you're uncertain of how flowers can best be used in this area, set up the display ahead of time, snap a picture, and take it in to your florist who will be happy to design the perfect piece.

Your florist can also help you use fresh flowers to decorate the graduation cake. You'll need to coordinate between the baker and the florist to ensure the cake can accommodate the fresh floral designs, but this is usually a fairly easy task.

College

Often college graduations are celebrated with only very close family and friends. But, that doesn't mean you shouldn't use flowers to help celebrate the day. In fact, college graduates are at an age at which flowers are even more greatly appreciated. A lovely arrangement delivered on the morning of the ceremony can really kick the day off in a special way. Because the number of guests that may attend a college graduation is often limited, some family members aren't able to come to the ceremony at all. In these cases, sending flowers to let the graduate know how proud you are is even more special.

It doesn't matter what age your graduate is-from 4 to 40, everyone appreciates the beauty of flowers. Contact your florist for even more great ideas for using flowers to mark the importance of graduation.
