The Top 10 Cities Chosen by Italian Tourists for the Autumn Bank Holiday
Copyright (c) 2011-2012 Ilaria Aglietti
A study carried out by leading Italian flight and hotel comparison site VoliLowCost.it reveals that London was the Italians’ favourite destination for the Halloween weekend.
Many Italian travellers took advantage of the Autumn Bank Holiday (known as “All Saints’ Day”) to enjoy a short break in European Cities with London once again topping the table of most popular destinations, according to Voli Low Cost.
The analysis shows that over 70% of the searches performed on the travel portal were for flights within Europe, and in particular the main capital cities, while Italy represented 20% of the searches and the rest of the world only 8%.
The Halloween factor
For many young Italian travellers the All Saints’ Bank holiday is becoming increasingly more associated with Halloween, a celebration which has been growing in popularity in Italy over recent years.
It may not be a coincidence that the three Capitals most searched for by Italians are London, Amsterdam and Paris, destinations which year on year have been expanding their tourist offering for the Halloween week-end.
Italians and London, an enduring romance for all seasons
As well as being the long-established favourite destination of Italians throughout the summer months, London is also fast becoming the preferred destination for short breaks in the autumn.
Indeed, according to research carried out by VisitBritain, London is the first destination Italians think of when travelling to Britain and it is seen as an international capital that offers a cosmopolitan experience as well as a great deal of history and tradition. In the last year Italians were ranked seventh for volume of visits and spending in Britain, disbursing in excess of £437 million in the British Capital.
The top 10 destinations chosen by Italians for the Autumn Bank Holiday are:
1. London
2. Amsterdam
3. Paris
4. Prague
5. Berlin
6. Barcelona
7. Madrid
8. Istanbul
9. Rome
10. Budapest

expensive. It's often rated as the most expensive city in
