Is Joint Pain Inevitable As We Age?

Copyright (c) 2006-2010 DBA AdPro Media Sales, All Rights Reserved
Written by: Kamau Austin

Human life is full of ups and downs, happiness and sorrows, health and diseases, pains and pleasures. There are both bright and dark periods in our lives. Wisdom exists in realizing life's peaks and valleys and preparing yourself to face them with courage.

We need to remember this when faced with difficult situations in life so that we don't get disheartened by trials and tribulations. Illness, diseases and aches and pains are indeed testing times for our tolerance, patience and understanding of life.

As we age we become susceptible to a condition referred to as "biological inevitability" by experts. It means that as we age, our body undergoes several changes and our organs begin to lose their stability and suppleness. Also, our bones become weak and begin to lose their strength. Consequently, we can experience joint pain especially in specific parts like knee joints and hands.

Joint pain can be mild or severe as is the case for people suffering from arthritis. Joint pain is not essentially inevitable but it is so common that almost every one seems to be afflicted by joint pain in one way or the other, though the severity differs from one person to the other.

Joint pain is common in older people, say in their 70s or 80s. By the time that you reach this age your organs and bones would have undergone tremendous amount of wear and tear.

While some degree of joint pain may effect everyone eventually, there are certainly steps you can adopt to ward off or slow down the onset and duration of any joint pain you may suffer.

The following may bring some help for this chronic and painful condition:

  • Acupuncture-This Chinese treatment consists of pins and needles which are inserted at our body's nine acupuncture points to alleviate joint pain and provide relief to those suffering from arthritis.

  • Herbal treatments consisting of triptolide-Though research is still going on about the effectiveness of herbs as effective solution for joint pain, triptolide is believed to tackle inflammation in arthritis patients and also reduce joint pain considerably.

  • A combination of glucosamine and chondroitin is also recommended for patients affected by joint pain, especially osteoarthritis.

  • Fish like salmon, herring, etc. that are found in cold water are known to be rich in omega-3 fatty acids can also fight joint pain by preventing bone joints from inflammation.

  • A regular and optimized intake of calcium also plays a vital role in reducing joint pain.

  • Women, especially those who are in the post-menopause years are vulnerable to bone loss that in turn leads to joint pains. Such women need to consume foods rich in phytoestrogens, like soy products.

Remember that joint pain can be the result of a poor or unbalanced diet, incorrect body postures, and in a few cases heredity too.

Your lifestyle should include a good diet filled with all the essential nutrients that your body needs with particular focus on food that help your bones and joints.

If you are overweight, try to lose those extra pounds and maintain your proper weight so that your joints are not exposed to excessive pressure and strain.

There are some supplements that blend several efficient nutrients into one formula for the treatment of joint pain. One such formulation is Phosoplex(tm). Phosoplex(tm), available from The Bodestore is hailed as one of the most powerful all natural and safe solutions for joint lubrication, pain relief and the rebuilding of healthy cartilage. Is available from http://www.bodestore.com and Amazon.com

Don't merely accept joint pain as inevitable! If you are conscientious and follow a healthy lifestyle, there is every chance that joint pain will not greatly affect you.
