Celine Dion's 2008-2009 World Concert Tour
Copyright (c) 2008-2012 Mark Anderson
If you're a Celine Dion fan or if you're considering seeing Celine live in concert this year, read on! Celine Dion has been the long term headliner at the Coliseum in Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. The structure where she has performed at the Coliseum was specifically built to house her magnificent stage show. She spent five years as the main performer at the Coliseum but now the pop star is ready to go on tour again. And she is touring in a big way. In a November 2007 Live Daily News new article, Celine said how excited she was to be traveling on tour with her son and husband.
"These past five years of performing at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas have been an incredibly rewarding experience for myself and my family, but I'm ready to hit the road again, with my husband and son by my side," Dion said in a statement. "It's going to be so exciting to tour the US and Canada again, and perform everything with a brand new show. I just can't wait!"
The tour is said to feature her biggest hits and will showcase the material from her most recent album "Taking Chances", which was released in November and is the name of her new world tour. This album is her first English-centric album in three years and when putting it together, Dion collaborated with Ben Moody of Evanescence, Ne-Yo and Linda Perry.
It is going to take an entire year to complete the tour. It will last from February 14, 2008 until January 30, 2009. The tour will be hitting five different continents, has six legs, and stopping in eighty-five cities. There are going to be more than100 shows on this tour. The tickets went on sale as early as May, 2007 (Switzerland, Belgium and France started selling tickets then). Most of the shows are already sold out. Montreal's shows sold out within six minutes of the tickets going on sale, and when two more concert dates were added to the city, the eighty-thousand tickets sold out in thirty-five minutes, which set a record for the country. London, Dublin and Manchester also sold out in just a few hours. The 80,000 tickets for Croke Park in Dublin were sold out in 3 hours.
So far there are three different opening acts scheduled to appear for Celine Dion's 2008-2009 World Tour. Jody Williams will open in South Africa. Yuna Ito will open in Japan and Il Divo will open the concert in Ireland and the UK.
The "Taking Chances" tour is going to be traveling to a large and diverse set of countries all over the world.
The Itinerary for Celine Dion's 2008-2009 World Tour is as follows:
From February 14, 2008 until March 1, 2008 Celine will be performing in South Africa. She will be in Johannesburg on the 14th, Petoria on the 16th and 17th, Durban on the 20th, Cape Town on the 23rd and 24th, Port Elizabeth on the 27th and then Johannesburg again on March 1.
From March 3rd, 2008 until March 19, 2008, Celine will be performing in Qatar, UAE, Japan, China and South Korea. March 3rd has her in Doha, Qatar, March 5th she performs in Dubai, UAE. March 8th and 9th she performs in Tokyo, March 11th and 12th she will perform in Osaka. March 15th, she will perform in Macau, China and March 18th and 19th will be spent in Seoul, South Korea.
March 23rd, 2008 until April 4th will have Celine performing in New Zealand and Australia. She will be in Auckland, New Zealand on March 23rd, Brisbane, Australia on March 26th, Sydney on March 28th and 29th, Melbourne on April 1st and Perth on April 4th.
In Mid April, Celine heads back to Asia with a stop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on April 8th, Shanghai, China on April 11th and one in Beijing, China on April 13th.
After a short break in touring for some rest and relaxation, Celine will begin the European leg of her world tour with shows in Manchester, UK on May 2nd and 3rd. She will perform in London on May 6th and 8th and then in Birmingham on May 10th. May 13th through May 16th will be spent in Antwerp, Belgium and she will spend May 19th through the 27th in Paris. From Paris, she'll make a short trip up to Dublin for a show on May 30th and then fly back down for a show in Amsterdam on June 2nd. Celine will perform in Copenhagen on June 5th, Stockholm on June 7th and in Helsinki on June 9th. The Germany portion of the tour will take up June 12th through June 22nd, with shows in Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Cologne, Hamburg and Munich.
That is just the first six months of touring! The rest of the tour hits more countries in Europe, parts of the Middle East, and the longest leg of her tour takes her through the United States and Canada.
The "Taking Chances" World Tour Information
The stage show is directed by Jamie King, the same high profile director who directed Christina Aguilera's Back to Basics Tour and Madonna's Confessions Tour. The Taking Chances live show itself is going to be an artful blend of fashion, choreography, effects and set design.
On tour, Celine will be traveling with an entourage of 150 dancers, acrobats and concert personnel, and her 7-member band. She will also have a dentist and a voice and throat specialist on call. There will need to be 75 "premium hotel rooms" be reserved for the production crew aswell.
Celine has been singing from the heart for the past 5 years in Sin City, Las Vegas. But now you don't have to travel to Vegas to see the diva live. She'll most likely be stopping at a city near you on her "Taking Chances" world tour. Don't miss your chance to see Celine live!

The 2008 NFL season is upon us and as always, there is plenty of
excitement in almost every NFL city across the country. Every fan
is hopeful about their team at the start of the season, but when
it comes down to it, the best teams will always end up at the top

the odds aren't always on your side. But as the Giants showed
the world last year: once you're in the playoffs, anything can
happen and anybody can win the whole thing and go home as Super
Bowl Champion.
